Custom-made sofas in Provence — prices, fabrics and finishes

In Provence, the art of living is expressed in every detail of the home. The sofa is not just a piece of furniture: it is the heart of the living room, the place for all shared moments. At Bérengère Leroy, we have been designing bespoke sofas in Provence for over twenty years, combining the rigor of French craftsmanship with the absolute freedom of personalization. Precise dimensions, choice of fabric, bespoke finishes—each piece is unique, designed for your space and your lifestyle.

Our showrooms in Cannes, Mougins and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence welcome you by appointment to build your project together, from the first sketch to delivery.

Why choose a custom-made sofa rather than a standard model?

A standard sofa is designed to suit everyone — which means it doesn't perfectly suit anyone. The seat depth is rarely tailored to your body type, the dimensions disregard your space constraints, and the fabric offered is often a compromise between industrial durability and aesthetics.

The bespoke sofa by Bérengère Leroy follows a reverse logic: your interior dictates the dimensions, your taste chooses the material, and your vision determines the finishes. For a home in Provence—whether a restored farmhouse, a contemporary villa, or a characterful country house—this freedom is essential. The spaces are often generous, the light intense, and the interiors blend raw stone with refined textiles. A standard sofa cannot work in this environment. A sofa designed specifically for it can.

Choosing the fabric is the most crucial step in your project. Our custom fabric catalogue has more than 400 references, organized into four main categories.

Washed linen: the signature of Provence

Washed linen is the most iconic fabric of Maison Bérengère Leroy. Pre-treated for an instantly soft feel and a naturally crinkled texture, it harmonizes with all the hues of Provence—chalk white, natural greige, soft terracotta, and sage green. It ages gracefully, improves with use, and withstands the intense light of southern interiors beautifully.

Our Couture Collection offers linens woven in Italy (Como and Padua region) with a higher weft density than standard linens: better hold, silkier feel, deeper colours.

    Velvet: a luminous presence

Velvet brings a chromatic dimension that linen cannot offer. In a Provençal interior, a Tsar Burgundy velvet A deep Hope velvet creates a striking contrast with whitewashed walls or exposed stone. Our velvets are treated to withstand daily wear and tear—a Bérengère Leroy velvet retains its appearance for years without flattening or fading.

    Soft washed chenille: maximum softness

Soft-washed chenille is ideal for interiors focused on comfort and coziness. Its almost velvety feel, more accessible than pure velvet, makes it a preferred choice for family homes or second homes in Provence where the sofa is used daily and intensively.

Outdoor fabrics: for terraces and loggias

For covered outdoor spaces — loggia, pergola terrace, veranda — our range of custom outdoor sofas We use fabrics made from certified fire-retardant recycled fibers, treated to be UV-resistant and water-repellent. The same price per meter applies, as does the same freedom in terms of dimensions and finishes.

The finishing touches that make all the difference

    Contrasting piping

A fabric trim sewn at the seam of the cushions and armrests. The piping can be in the same fabric as the couch (an elegant monochrome effect) or in a contrasting fabric (natural linen on black velvet, burgundy velvet on a beige sofa). This is the most requested finish in our Provençal showrooms — it gives the sofa an immediately recognizable visual signature.

    Upholstery

The tufting creates a quilted effect on the backrest or seat, with small fabric-covered buttons structuring the surface. It lends a sculpted dimension to the piece and evokes the aesthetics of haute couture furniture.

    Initial embroidery

Whether subtle or bold, initial embroidery personalizes your sofa in a decidedly " unique piece It can be placed on a cushion, on the back of the chair, or on a cheek.

    Nailing

The gold or silver studding, placed by hand around the armrests or backrest, gives the sofa a more assertive dimension, somewhere between an English library and a country house interior.
