Custom-made wide-width linen voile curtains — The complete Berengere Leroy collection

Linen voile is a unique fabric. Neither truly opaque nor entirely transparent, it exists in that luminous in-between space that transforms an ordinary window into a source of diffused light. Placed over a large bay window, it captures the morning light, filters it at midday, and glows softly in the evening. It moves in the air, breathes, and lives in harmony with the space.

At Berengere Leroy, crafting bespoke, wide-width linen voile curtains is one of the company's longest-standing expertise. We offer a range of 50 colors in various weights , in widths of 280, 300, and 330 cm —perfectly suited to bay windows, French doors, and large windows without seams or joins. Each curtain is handmade in our workshop in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, with a lead wire sewn into the hem to ensure a flawless vertical drape.

Why choose a wide-width linen voile?

Transparency without the synthetic

Most sheer curtains on the market are made of polyester, synthetic voile, or a linen-polyester blend. They filter light well but don't age well: they yellow, generate static electricity, and are not breathable. Pure linen voile is the exact opposite. It remains white or natural over time, is easy to machine wash, softens slightly with each wash, and becomes more natural with age.

The large format for a seamless drape

A sheer curtain assembled from several panels of standard fabric creates vertical seams that, when viewed against the light, become immediately visible and break the effect of transparency. In wide widths—280, 300, or 330 cm—a single panel is enough to cover the entire window without interruption. The curtain unfolds in its entirety, smooth and flowing, without any visible seams.

The plumb line: the detail that makes all the difference

A linen voile without weights lifts in the slightest breeze and loses its verticality. All our linen voile curtains are made with a lead wire sewn into the bottom hem . This detail, invisible once the curtain is hung, anchors the drape, maintains the vertical line, and gives the voile that calm, straight presence that defines the elegance of handcrafted work.

The technical characteristics of our linen sails

Three wide formats

We offer our linen sails in three wide widths:

280 cm — suitable for windows up to 260–270 cm wide, with a slight extra for installation.

300 cm — the most versatile format, which covers almost all standard bay windows and double French doors.

330 cm — for very large openings, panoramic bays and interior architecture projects with large glazed areas.

Two weights depending on the desired effect

100 g/m² — the lightest weight available. Maximum transparency, extreme lightness. Ideal for very bright south- or west-facing rooms, or for spaces where you want to let in as much natural light as possible. The fabric is almost imperceptible.

160 g/m² — slightly denser. It filters more direct light, offers a bit more privacy during the day, and is more durable when hung. Recommended for bedrooms, semi-open rooms, or projects seeking a sheer curtain with more body and presence.

A palette of 50 colors

From optical white to natural linen, from ecru to beige, including taupe, sand, and black—our wide-width linen voiles cover all contemporary decorating palettes. Each color is available in both weights and all three widths, at no extra cost. We can send samples before you order so you can see how the fabric looks in your space.

Our wide-width linen voile collections

Alika — White linen voile, 310 cm wide

Alika is our most popular collection of white linen voile. Its 310 cm width, balanced weight, and natural white color make it the ideal choice for contemporary interiors seeking brightness and understated elegance. The integrated lead wire ensures a perfectly vertical drape. Starting at €273 for a finished curtain measuring 300 x 260 cm.

Bessora — White linen voile, soft and airy finish

Bessora is a collection of wide-width white linen voile with a particularly soft feel. Its slightly different weave compared to Alika gives it a more matte, less luminous appearance, for a discreet and natural voile effect that blends into the room without ever being intrusive.

Madame Rêve — White linen veil, romantic rendering

Madame Rêve plays on the fineness of the weave to create a slightly ethereal, almost dreamlike effect. It's the collection for bedrooms, intimate spaces, and interiors that embrace their romantic and sensitive side.

Nomad — Linen voile in natural hues

Nomade embraces natural and organic tones—raw linen, sand, light beige. Its spirit is more earthy, more bohemian than the white collections. It blends perfectly with interiors featuring natural and handcrafted decor: raw materials, wood, stone, rattan.

Gaia — Wide width ecru linen voile

Gaia is our collection in ecru linen voile. Between white and natural tones, ecru brings a soft warmth without veering into sandy hues. It's the most versatile shade for interiors that straddle the line between cool white and warm natural tones.

Sahara Stripes — Striped linen voile

Sahara Stripes is our only patterned linen voile collection. Subtle, understated stripes, woven throughout the fabric, add visual rhythm to the curtain without disrupting its sheer effect. Ideal for interiors seeking a subtly graphic voile.

Présage — Structured linen voile

Présage is a collection with a slightly more structured weave, giving the voile a more textured look than the smooth collections. Ideal for those who want voile with character and a more handcrafted feel.

    FAQ

    What is the difference between a 100 g/m² and a 160 g/m² linen voile?
The 100 g/m² fabric is very lightweight and sheer—allowing maximum light through and ideal for bright rooms or projects seeking an almost imperceptible voile effect. The 160 g/m² fabric is denser, filters more direct light, and offers slightly more privacy during the day. For a bedroom or semi-open space, we recommend the 160 g/m². For a light-filled living room, the 100 g/m² is often sufficient.
Can a linen voile and a washed linen curtain be used together on the same window?
Yes, it's one of the most common and successful combinations. The sheer curtain in the foreground filters the light during the day; the wide-width washed linen curtain in the background enhances privacy in the evening or provides extra warmth in winter. This double-hanging technique can be achieved on two separate rods or on a double rod.
What width should I choose for my window?
Choose the fabric width that is immediately larger than your window width. For a 250 cm window, choose the 280 cm width. For a 280 cm window, choose the 300 cm width. For very large windows over 300 cm, our 330 cm width provides a seamless fit. For widths over 330 cm, we will work with you to find the most suitable solution.
Is wide-width linen voile suitable for very tall bay windows?
Yes, we make custom linen voile curtains in any height. For taller curtains—3m, 3,50m and above—the lead wire sewn into the hem is particularly important to maintain a vertical drape along the entire length of the curtain.
Can I receive samples before ordering?
Yes, we send fabric samples upon request so you can confirm the color and how it looks in your own lighting. We particularly recommend this service when choosing a curtain color, as it's difficult to accurately assess colors on a screen. Contact us via our form or by phone to request a sample.
Can linen voile be machine washed?
Yes, all our linen voile curtains are machine washable at 30°C on a delicate cycle. Avoid tumble drying. Hang them slightly damp to naturally regain their shape—the weighted hem helps restore their verticality without ironing. A quick steam treatment is all it takes to remove any creases.
